NYPD tech savvy as ever – Google glass to fight crime

The New York Police Department, the best in the country keeps up with technology. This time it’s Google Glass.  Soon, the men in blue would look like they were straight out of a Terminator movie – with the glasses, the cops are expecting to walk past people and get their entire history on the screen. They are expecting the Glass to help them identify the bad guys immediately. Besides, the instant internet access, the Glass could also be used to capture and record audio and video footage. IBM to deliver Self Destructive smartphones for DARPA (Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency)

In what might seem like an idea from Hollywood, the U.S military’s research arm – DARPA, enters into a $3.4 Million contract with IBM for its “Vanishing Programmable Resources”.  The Contract was done on the 31st of January 2014. IBM would be working on building phones and sensors that could be triggered using a radio frequency signal to self- destruct. Read more…

Earlier this week the Microsoft Corporation, announced its new CEO to be Satya Nadella. Nadella will be taking over from Steve Ballmer at a time, when the company has grown past its prime. Flappy bird to be scrapped

The mobile game that has been making the headlines for its huge success has apparently maddened its creator. “I will take Flappy Bird down. I cannot take this anymore,” says Nguyen Ha Dong, its 29-year-old creator. Amidst suspicions of the game having breached copyright legalities and rumors of fake accounts run to generate reviews and download; this is a sudden decision. HTC moves to produce cheaper phones

The Taiwanese smartphone maker HTC Corp. says it would be focusing on building mid-range smartphones for emerging and developing economies. Snapchat, an effective tool to crash iPhones

A cyber security researcher Jaime Sanchez proves that Snapchat accounts could be used to crash iPhones. Sanchez and a coworker found a loophole in Snapchat’s system, which enables users/hackers to flood individual users with thousands of messages causing the device to freeze or crash. The next Apple-incarnate the iPhone 6 is rumored to use sapphire display screens. Second to only Diamond, Sapphire is the hardest material on earth and Apple plans to use Sapphire Glass for the displays of its next smartphone.
